I Finally Took All Social Media Off My Phone. I’m More Bored and Happier.
I hate social media more than anyone I know.
For every one good thing it does (keep us connected, give us a centralized database of all our pictures, make us laugh) it does ten bad things (and a couple really bad things).
I scrolled through or used any social media app in years. The last holdout I had on my phone was YouTube, but I recently removed that. Now, all I have to do when I sit on the toilet is…think.
I’m definitely more bored nowadays.
But I’m definitely happier, too.
The other day, I went to eat some lunch by myself, and for the first time, didn’t open my phone to entertain me as I ate. I just sat there, eating my food by myself in silence. And you know where my mind wandered?
I realized I had been angry, and I began thinking through why I was feeling that way.
I probably never would’ve done that if I had social media or something to distract me.
